Reaching

I first produced images like Netherlands and Phoenix Feathers which had a very interesting texture but basically the same all over. I sought for a way of controlling the equations so that they would give different effects in different parts of the picture. I hit on the idea of using a neural network, a computer model of the brain, to set different behaviour in different parts of the image. Numbers are used to simulate the flow of nerve impulses from neuron to neuron. These numbers then control the brush and colours. This way of working produced images like Bushfire, Reaching, and Skyhorses.
